Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed to Leeds Live that Adam Forshaw won’t be featuring against Liverpool in his side’s Premier League opener.

Forshaw missed almost the entirely of last season with injury at Leeds, and it seems that his hip is still troubling him.

There had been hopes that Forshaw would make it back in time to help Leeds out on their return to the top flight.

But even after a summer break, it seems that the 28-year-old will not be making it back on to the pitch in the near future.

“No, Adam Forshaw is out. He’s a separate case,” Bielsa said, when asked if Forshaw could play.

Forshaw had played a key role at Leeds up until his injury, so his absence remains a blow.

Forshaw will surely feel some frustration that he didn’t have a big part of play in Leeds’ promotion back to the top flight, but if he can make it back to full fitness, he could yet force his way back into contention at Elland Road.

Forshaw remains one of Leeds’ more talented midfield options, and Bielsa would surely love to have him available again, as he could add further depth to the quality of the Whites’ options in the centre of the pitch.
