The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard could see all three of his Ibrox goalkeepers depart next summer.
Rangers are among the clubs being credited with interest in a Championship club’s goalkeeper.
All three of Rangers’ senior ‘keepers, Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Andy Firth, are out of contract at the end of this season.
However, the Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has already expressed a desire to keep McGregor beyond the end of his deal.
But the Gers, it seems, are preparing for all eventualities, with Sheffield Wednesday’s Cameron Dawson ‘thought to be on their radar’, according to The Star.
A lifelong Wednesday supporter, Dawson has progressed through the ranks at his hometown team and had a spell as number one last season.
But a change of manager saw the more experienced Keiren Westwood restored in place of the 24-year-old, who has appeared sporadically since then.
And with his contract also up next summer, the Owls are vulnerable to losing Dawson, whom The Star reports is being ‘closely monitored’ by Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End.
But the chance to play for a club of Rangers’ stature – one which could be playing Champions League football this time next year – could hold substantial appeal to the former England youth international.
It is claimed that Dawson has yet to be offered a new deal at Wednesday, and a January deal could be on the cards as the English side look to avoid losing him for nothing.
