Rival suitors Aston Villa and Crystal Palace may have been presented with a chance to seize the initiative in the pursuit of Rhian Brewster’s signature.
Both Villa and Palace have been linked with moves for the Liverpool striker in the summer transfer window, although it is Sheffield United who are said to be favourites for Brewster’s signature.
But according to Yorkshire Live, the Blades are now stalling on a move – frustrating Liverpool in the process.
It is claimed that Liverpool have instructed United to make a permanent bid for Brewster and informed them they can pay the 20-year-old’s £18 million in instalments structured to suit the club that Aston Villa beat on Monday.
Of Villa and Crystal Palace, it is the former club who are arguably best placed to pounce on Sheffield United’s hesitance, having recently offloaded two of their strikers in Scott Hogan and Mbwana Samatta.

But, assuming that Yorkshire Live‘s £18m figure is accurate, Brewster, who scored 11 goals in 22 games at Championship level last season, may be viewed by both clubs as a sensible investment – even if Liverpool enforce a buyback clause as suggested.
