While all the talk of Arsenal signing one Real Madrid loanee has stepped up since Martin Odegaard’s recent days, the suggestions that they may sign another have died down.

Dani Ceballos has spent almost the last two years at Arsenal, but his time at the Emirates Stadium is surely coming to an end.

The Spaniard’s latest displays will most likely mean that Arsenal don’t look to do a hat-trick of deals for his services in the summer.

Ceballos’ time at Arsenal has been far from a disaster, but at this point, the logic of signing him again is questionable.

Ceballos hasn’t been able to nail down a starting position in Mikel Arteta’s preferred team and although he has played fairly regularly, he has rarely looked like becoming a key player.

His recent displays in Europe have been particularly worrying.

Ceballos has been directly at fault for a number of goals which Arsenal have conceded on their European run.

In their latest clash with Olympiacos, Ceballos was hooked after he gave away the ball, which led to the Greek side scoring at the Emirates.

Arteta spoke after the game and said Arsenal needed greater control in the final third, as they were simply giving the ball away too much, which was a damning indictment on Ceballos’ display.

In truth though, the 24-year-old, who was once labelled as ‘very clever’ by Robin van Persie (BT), has never delivered a performance of the same quality that Odegaard put in against West Ham United during his entire time at the club.

And although Ceballos has been a solid option at Arsenal for nearly two years now, he surely won’t be at the club next season.
