Leeds United may have fresh hope in their alleged pursuit of Rodrigo de Paul.
It has been claimed that while the Udinese midfielder wants to join Leeds (La Repubblica), his £35 million asking price is around £12.5m too high for the Whites (Daily Mirror).
It is possible, however, that price could come down if De Paul’s employers can sign a replacement.
And one player they’re targeting, according to Messaggero Veneto, has handed in a transfer request, as announced by his club on Wednesday.
Watford say that, as a result, Roberto Pereyra is no longer in Vladimir Ivić’s first-team squad, adding that they will ‘confirm his departure one it has been finalised’.
Pereyra, who played for Udinese prior to joining Watford from Juventus four years ago, is said to be interesting his former side, at which he could replace De Paul (Messaggero Veneto).
It is claimed that Sevilla are also keen on the Argentine who would cost in excess of €10m (around £9.2m) and can offer Champions League football (Messaggero Veneto).

But given the close ties of Watford and Udinese, who share their owners, the latter club are likely to fancy their chances.
And if Pereyra does indeed return to the Stadio Fruili, then Leeds may suddenly find De Paul’s club more accomodating.
