Tottenham are reportedly willing to sell Steven Bergwijn in the summer if a fee of £15million is tabled, as he continues to struggle for game time. Surely, Newcastle have got to be tempted – having been interested in January.

Bergwijn, 24, has been inconsistent all season – with injuries and a lack of regular game time preventing him from developing any kind of form. The Netherlands star did show resurgence, in the 3-2 win over Leicester.

Losing 2-1 going into injury time, the ex-PSV Eindhoven star scored twice having come off the bench. It was his best moment in a Spurs shirt, but any other moment has been far from the elation of Bergwijn scoring twice.

CalcioMercato claim that Tottenham are willing to cash in on Bergwijn in the summer if they can get around £15million for him – a player they bought for £27million. AC Milan are interested in signing the Dutch star.

Newcastle have got to take risk on Tottenham star Bergwijn

In January, 90Min reported that Newcastle were considering a loan move for Tottenham’s Bergwijn. He has remained, but the signing of Dejan Kulusevski has pushed Bergwijn down the pecking order at Spurs.

Newcastle will spend big in the summer but they will still be hamstrung by Financial Fairplay. They need players that they can build their side around, younger players for good value that can hugely improve the Toon team.

Bergwijn, at 24, for £15million, has the potential to do that. While he has not performed to his potential at Tottenham, he is capable of magic and Newcastle need a right-sided attacker alongside Allan Saint-Maximin.

They have the strikers, they have Saint-Maximin. They need that extra piece of the jigsaw and Bergwijn would be excellent at Newcastle because he would get the game time. At £15million, a potentially cheap, but superb add.
