Surprise reports emerged this week regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing Leeds winger Dan James and now, Leeds are being linked with a move for Japhet Tanganga – so, would a straight swap suit all parties involved?
James, a £25million signing for Leeds last summer from Manchester United, has endured a tricky start at Leeds. Last season, he was forced to play as a striker – out of position – for much of the season, covering Patrick Bamford.
He managed just four goals last term. Now, back in his favoured position, he is fighting to remain in the starting XI ahead of Luis Sinisterra. A replacement for Raphinha. He was good against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, in a 3-0 win.
Reports claim Tottenham are planning a surprise move for the Wales international. A teammate of Gareth Bale, Joe Rodon and Ben Davies. Leeds could use that interest to win the race for Tottenham’s Tanganga.

Tottenham interest in James: Leeds linked with Tanganga – straight swap?
According to reports, Leeds are battling the likes of Nottingham Forest, Everton, Newcastle and AC Milan for Tanganga. The 23-year-old defender is yet to play a single minute for Tottenham this season, and Spurs are open to his exit.
The Athletic say Spurs want a fee of £16.8million. It is unclear why Tottenham want Leeds given their depth in the final third, and the same can be said for Leeds. They are well-stocked on the right side of their defence, and at centre-back.
But Tottenham are fighting on four fronts and if Bryan Gil goes, he will need replacing. James could be that man. Rasmus Kristensen has made an indifferent start in the three opening games and Luke Ayling has his injury issues.
Pascal Struijk is starring at left-back and could remain on the left side of the defence. So, another body in defence could be needed at Elland Road. Both players are rated in a similar region regarding price – so, a swap makes sense.
