Davinson Sanchez is under huge pressure to deliver a big performance for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening now.
Sanchez appeared to start the campaign firmly planted in Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans.
The Colombian started four of Tottenham’s first five games of the term, but unconvincing displays have seen him fall down the pecking order.
Sanchez has not featured in either of Spurs’s last two match day squads for league games, with the central defender now in real danger of losing his spot.
Joe Rodon has actually been favoured over Sanchez on the bench for Tottenham recently, and it is easy to see why.
The former Ajax man simply hasn’t delivered when he has been given a chance – with his performances proving error prone.
An own goal against West Ham United was his most high profile mistake, but Sanchez has rarely gone through a game where he has looked totally untroubled this season.
Mourinho spoke fiercely against the Tottenham team that started in their defeat to Antwerp after their last European game, and that criticism should still be ringing loudly in Sanchez’s ears.

The 24-year-old was a big money signing for Spurs, and while he has obvious qualities, his inability to iron out defensive errors is a concern.
Mauricio Pochettino called Sanchez one of Europe’s most talented players on BBC Sport during his time at Tottenham, but he has never really lived up to that billing, as he hasn’t progressed at the rate expected.
Sanchez now needs to prove that he can perform against Ludogorets, as if he puts in another weak display against a relatively low quality opposition then he is in real danger of losing Mourinho’s trust.
Mourinho has already proven that he is not afraid to ostracise Tottenham players, with Dele Alli completely frozen out at the moment.
And with Rodon brought in, and Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld starting to establish themselves as the club’s first choice pairing, Sanchez needs to give a reminder of his quality tomorrow.
