Could Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to loan out Kazaiah Sterling give Spurs the upper hand in their pursuit of a Southend United striker?
Tottenham sanctioned Sterling’s move to Southend on a three-month arrangement, earlier on Friday.
And the 21-year-old’s arrival leaves the Essex side with plenty of options in his position.
As well as Sterling, Southend have Brandon Goodship, Simeon Akinola, Matt Rush, Emile Acquah and Kenny Coker to call on – and that is without even factoring in Charlie Kelman.
The United States youth international is said to have had interest from several higher-division clubs this calendar year, and was the subject of an unsuccessful six-figure bid from Tottenham in January (Echo).

It is, however, Queens Park Rangers who are claimed to have made the most recent approach for Kelman – more than one, in fact (also Echo).
But Spurs’ recent favour could yet have positive repercussions, should the Premier League club pursue a deal for Sterling’s new teammate.
Kelman, who will be 19 next month, has already played 35 times for Southend, for whom he has scored eight goals.
