Liverpool should view the Premier League’s plans as great news, as they were effectively confirmed as champions last night.

The Daily Mirror suggest that England’s top flight will return in June, with Liverpool just two wins away from the title.

Liverpool will want to get matters done on the pitch, but they now have the comfort blanket of knowing that if the campaign is not finished then they will still have their first ever Premier League title in the bag.

Clubs across the league will vote for an unweighted points per game system to decide on the final standings, if the campaign cannot be completed.

That would reward Liverpool for their season, which has been simply remarkable.

There is effectively no way for any side to stop Liverpool winning their first ever Premier League title now.

Indeed Liverpool could be crowned champions very soon after the campaign restarts.

If Manchester City lose to Arsenal in the Premier League’s curtain raiser, then Jurgen Klopp’s will be able to win the title with a win against Everton, in their first game back in action.
