Earlier this week Duncan Castles stated that Leicester City believe Demarai Gray will be joining Tottenham.

The winger’s contract is coming to an end, so Spurs may be able to sign the 24-year-old on a cut-price deal, and while that would be seen as something of a coup, you have to worry about what it means for the future of one of Spurs’ brightest stars.

Of course, we’re talking about Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon arrived at Tottenham with all the potential in the world. He won the Championship Player of the Year award at the age of 18, and he was touted to be the next big thing during his time at Fulham.

Unfortunately, his Spurs career hasn’t gotten off to the start he would have hoped for, with the winger being shipped out on loan this season.

To make matters worse, Tottenham are absolutely stacked in the position he would be looking at playing, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn all able to play on the left wing, while Sergio Reguillon and Ben Davies are battling it out to be Spurs’ first-choice left-back.

Add Gray into the mix and Sessegnon could soon find himself as Tottenham’s sixth-choice left winger, and for a man who was signed for £25 million, that’s a big worry.

Gray is a talented player, after all, Brendan Rodgers once described him as a player who ‘can do everything’, but Spurs must consider the overall impact that signing Gray will have.

Yes, he will add something to Tottenham’s squad due to the talents he has at his disposal, but if his arrival means that Sessegnon’s Spurs career is put at risk, will it really be worth it?

If Jose Mourinho chooses to sign Gray, he will have to perform one hell of a juggling act with his wingers.
