Son Heung-min is having an absolutely brilliant season for Tottenham Hotspur – but if rumours are believed, it’s about to get a whole lot better.
With 13 goals and six assists from 18 games in all competitions, the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker looks set to record his best-ever season as a Spurs player – well, in terms of individual stats, at least.
The worry for Tottenham in years gone by has been that any player who excels in a major way like Son is doing is always vulnerable to being poached away.
But there seems to be good news on the horizon on this front.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the North Londoners are set to tie him down to a new long-term deal – and there’ll be an announcement this side of Christmas [Here We Go].
From a Tottenham perspective, it’s just such a good decision.
Without the extension, Son could easily have his head turned next summer – and definitely if Jose Mourinho fails to deliver a trophy this season.
And at 28, he’s in the prime years of his career now, but this would-be extension ensures that the Lilywhites are going to get his very best years and that can only be a huge positive.
