If rumours are believed, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho wants a class back-up for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in January.
The Denmark international has been a revelation since joining Spurs from Southampton during the summer transfer window.
And according to The Athletic, Tottenham want to double up and sign a top-drawer covering option for Hojbjerg for when the midfielder is unavailable.
Thing is, the Lilywhites might already have a player like this.
Tottenham sent Oliver Skipp out on loan during the summer and he’s been killing it for Norwich City in the Championship.
Skipp has so far started every single one of the Canaries’ 20 league games and considering he’s only 20 himself, it’s clear that things are going very, very well.
Remember, this is a player who Mourinho said himself could be a future Lilywhites captain at some point in the future.
The North Londoners won’t have huge amounts of money available in January, which means it makes little sense to sign a covering option for Hojbjerg when Skipp could well be that exact player next season.
