Following Wednesday’s defeat to Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers revealed that Wilfred Ndidi could miss six to 12 weeks of action due to an abductor injury.
Leicester’s official site quoted him as saying: ‘We’re just waiting to hear more on that, but he could be anything between six and 12 weeks.
‘It’s an abductor which may have come off the bone.’
The Nigerian picked up the problem against Burnley on Sunday, and it will come as a big blow to the Foxes seeing as he was deputising at centre-back.
The ex-Genk man is naturally a midfielder, so the loss of a player in that department could impact Southampton’s reported interest in another Leicester midfield man, Hamza Choudhury.
The Telegraph revealed that Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to sign the Englishman as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Earlier this window, the Dane – who once captained the Saints – departed for Tottenham. Alarmingly, Southampton have also offloaded Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina, so their midfield department is especially weak.
However, they may now need to turn their attentions away from Choudhury – who earns a reported £7,500-a-week at the King Power Stadium.
Presumably, Rodgers won’t want to let the 22-year-old go so soon after losing his star midfielder to injury.

Additionally, Choudhury played the entire 90 minutes of Leicester’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday, so he is clearly still in Rodgers’ plans to some extent.
In light of the ex-Liverpool boss’ revelation, Southampton might need to push their shopping trolley elsewhere before the October 5th deadline.
