Levante are under pressure to raise £15 million via player sales amid interest from Leeds and Newcastle United in Jose Campana and Enis Bardhi, as reported by El Desmarque.

While the Castellon club are underperforming on the pitch this season – notwithstanding Saturday’s 2-1 triumph over title-chasing Real Sociedad, of course – it seems there are problems off it too.

Pretty much every club in European football has been hit hard by an ongoing financial crisis and, with fans still absent from the Ciutat de Valencia stadium, Levante are suffering.

Reports from Spain claim that Paco Lopez’s side must raise £15 million in player sales before June 30 in order to balance the books.

This comes just a day or two after the Mail linked Newcastle with North Macedonia international Bardhi – a set-piece specialist who has earned comparisons with the legendary David Beckham due to his devilish dead-ball abilities.

Bardhi is a skillful number ten with a rocket in his right boot.

He scored 19 times in the last three La Liga seasons and, on paper at least, would represent a fine addition to a Newcastle side who have lacked a goal-scoring midfield presence since Gini Wijnaldum’s departure in 2016.

Leeds, meanwhile, made a £14 million offer for the once-capped Spaniard Campana, a deep-lying play-maker who fits Marcelo Bielsa’s possession-heavy tactics like Michael Cera in a goofy, coming-of-age comedy-drama (SuperDeporte).

Levante president Quique Catalan recently confirmed that Campana has asked to leave in 2021 (Marca).
