Sergino Dest is one of the most promising young players in Europe, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Ajax defender.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are interested in signing the 19-year-old right-back from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
The USA international is relatively inexperienced, but he has shown enough in the matches that he has played so far in his career that he has a bright future ahead.
According to WhoScored, the teenager provided four assists in 20 Eredivisie matches, and played twice in the Europa League and five times in the Champions League for Ajax this season.
However, there is hardly a quality player these days who is not on the radar of multiple clubs, and one suspects that Tottenham will have been worried when a report emerged this week that the teenager was on his way to Barcelona.
Veronica Inside claimed that Dest was on his way to Barcelona, with a deal already been agreed.
However, the right-back’s agent, Joes Blakborn, has dismissed the speculation, and is quoted as saying by Voetbalprimeur.nl: “Sometimes Barcelona have inquired about Sergino’s situation, but that was it.
“There is no concrete interest. Barcelona have not reported to me or to Ajax.”
The youngster’s agent’s comments will be of relief for Tottenham, as they suggest that Dest still has not made up his mind about his future, and the North London outfit could yet convince him to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when the summer transfer window opens.
