Arsenal are on the crest of a wave right now but let’s face it, they need reinforcements if they’re going to continue to surge up the Premier League.

The Gunners sat 15th in the table only a few weeks ago, but a three-game winning streak has propped them up to 11th and, more importantly, there’s much more harmony it seems.

Despite a shocking first few months of the season, Arsenal are actually only six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and a strong second half of the campaign could potentially see them set their sights on a Champions League spot.

But first, they need players and there’s two targets of the North London club who could seriously transform their season even more.

TalkSPORT reported in December that Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma was on their radar and despite Granit Xhaka impressing in recent weeks following his indignity – and stupidity – against Burnley, you never feel that another moment of madness is too far away with the Swiss.

And truthfully, the Seagulls star is not only that bit more composed and level-headed, but a hell of a lot more mobile than the former Borussia Monchengladbach man, who probably isn’t as good alongside Thomas Partey as Bissouma might just be.

Further forward, Edu is on record as saying that Arsenal are in the market for a creative midfielder, with Mesut Ozil’s future continuing to look fairly bleak, and David Ornstein confirmed this week that the Emirates Stadium side have been interested in Norwich City’s Emi Buendia for the guts of 18 months.

Creating goalscoring chances was an enormous problem for Arsenal for the first three or four months of the season, but the Argentine placed fourth in that particular statistic last season – behind Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold – and what a boost it could be if Edu and Mikel Arteta got him.

Let’s face it, the Gunners are never a million miles away from one hell of a purple patch, because they have one hell of a striker in the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The reality is that Buendia might help Arsenal to start scoring again and Bissouma, in defensive midfield, might help to stem the tide of goals at the other end.

Their season has sparked into life again in recent weeks, but there could be a lot more to come if this double deal comes off.
