Exciting times lie ahead for Newcastle United.

The Magpies are on the brink of being bought out by Saudi Public Investment Fund who have one or two or £260 billion in their coffers.

And with great wealth comes great expectation of success and Newcastle will surely move to a new plain in terms of competition if and when the takeover is ratified by the Premier League.

They’re obviously being linked to quite a few big names, but there’s two potential deals in particular that could send the St James’s Park club well on their way.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle have already held discussions about bringing Philippe Coutinho to the North East, while the agent of Nigerian hitman Victor Osimhen has confirmed that they’re also interested in his client.

Despite failing at Barcelona, Coutinho, the subject of a £142 million move less than three years ago, is a world-renowned playmaker and his success at Liverpool should leave no doubt that he can play in the Premier League.

And as for Osimhen, well he’s reportedly being tracked by Liverpool and Arsenal which, if true, illustrates that the 21-year-old is a rising star of European football.

It’ll take a lot more than two players for Newcastle to be winning trophies again, but a double swoop for Coutinho and Osimhen would make life in the North East more attractive for other potential targets.

If other players on United’s shopping list see a name like Coutinho rocking up to St James’s Park, and a talent like Osimhen, then it’ll confirm that the prospective owners are serious about this transformation.
