Leeds United are reportedly set to make another signing – and it could have implications for Celtic, in a good way.

According to The Daily Mail, the Premier League new boys are close to wrapping up an £18 million deal for Josko Gvardiol.

The 18-year-old is a centre-back, but can also play left-back, and his potential arrival could offset another player’s move to Celtic.

The Mail reported in August that the Hoops were negotiating with Leeds to sign Barry Douglas.

Douglas only started six Championship games for the Whites last season, slipping behind Stuart Dallas and Gianni Alioski in the pecking order – despite neither of them being recognised left-backs.

And if and when Leeds complete a deal to sign Gvardiol, it just seems like it’ll be the last nail in the Scot’s career at Elland Road.

With a player of his experience, he doesn’t need the humiliation of not making the squad every week, which could genuinely happen if he stays in West Yorkshire.

The 31-year-old, who grew up a stone’s throw from Ibrox in Glasgow, is about to be surplus to requirements in a major way and Celtic should definitely feel buoyed by the Gvardiol rumour.
