Quite a few Tottenham Hotspur players are linked with moves away in January.
The likes of Dele Alli and Harry Winks might do well to remain as Spurs players by February following speculation about their futures.
And Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho might also look to send some younger players – like maybe Jack Clarke – out on loan for the second half of the campaign.
One player who there isn’t much speculation about is Davinson Sanchez but logically, he’s no less at risk than anybody else in North London.
The Colombia international is clearly unfancied by Mourinho and hasn’t played a Premier League game since the 3-3 draw with West Ham United back in October.
And when he has been given chances in the Europa League, the 24-year-old has generally flattered to deceive.
This is a player who Mauricio Pochettino labelled a ‘beast’ back in 2018 but there is nothing formidable about the former Ajax star these days and really, Mourinho could well move him on in some capacity.
The Portuguese prefers Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld in the Premier League and Joe Rodon will be eligible to be registered for their Europa League squad next month, in the knockout phases.
Whether it’s the Premier League or Europa League, Sanchez, who earns £65,000 per week, just isn’t going to play a lot of football from January onward and a departure makes total sense.
He has shown flashes of his potential down the years, but Mourinho’s arrival has done nothing for his development and don’t be surprised if the rumour mill begins churning out Sanchez-related content over the coming weeks.
