Leeds United were always going to need a bit of luck in their reported pursuit of Edinson Cavani.
ESPN Uruguay have claimed that the Whites have asked his agent about bringing the South American marksman to Elland Road this summer.
But remember, Cavani, despite being a free agent, is a huge name in the world of football and being a newly-promoted club without Champions League football doesn’t help Leeds’ pursuit one bit.
Then again, Bayern Munich seem to have other players in mind and that definitely does help the West Yorkshire club, if true.
It was reported by Le10 Sport that the German giants have looked at Cavani, but the same publication now claims that they’re hot on the heels of Wissam Ben Yedder.
With Robert Lewandowski firmly first-choice hitman at the Allianz Arena, Bayern won’t be signing Cavani and Ben Yedder – so if it’s the latter, the path is slightly clearer for Leeds in regards to capturing the former PSG and Napoli star.
Of course, this isn’t an exact science and things can change very quickly in the transfer window.
But the less elite clubs interested in Cavani, the better for Leeds – and Bayern focusing on Ben Yedder can only be good news for Marcelo Bielsa, Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani.
