Both Arsenal and Tottenham could see their respective right-backs – Hector Bellerin and Kyle Walker-Peters – leave this summer.

The London Evening Standard have reported that newly-promoted Fulham are looking to make a late bid for Spurs academy product, Walker-Peters, who seemingly looks destined to sign for Southampton.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph have claimed that Bellerin could be a ‘shock’ departure from Arsenal this summer, with Mikel Arteta happy for him to leave – Sky in Germany were reporting last month that the player himself wants to leave.

Perhaps Fulham are targetting the wrong player, and given that Walker-Peters may well end up at St Mary’s again given his successful loan spell last season, then Tottenham and Arsenal’s London rivals should look elsewhere.

Bellerin should be that guy because he would suit Scott Parker’s style of play and it may help the player in question because he doesn’t have to move out of London.

Ryan Fredericks, who is now at West Ham, Cyrus Christie and Denis Odoi, have been Fulham’s right-back’s in recent seasons and they’ve all had one thing in common – pace.

Bellerin has that in abundance and he also has the qualities to go up and down that flank at Craven Cottage. Added with that, he is experienced, something which Fulham need if they are to survive next season.

It could also be argued that Bellerin would be the better option for Fulham rather than Walker-Peters because they need that know-how, especially in defence.

Since coming back from a long-term injury, Bellerin hasn’t been at his best all the time, but during Arsenal’s FA Cup final win, he did roll back the years.

That is proof that Bellerin is worth the risk, as he wouldn’t be under as much pressure at Fulham than he would be at Arsenal, and therefore, it could provide him with the chance to thrive more.
