Bryan Gil has managed just two minutes of Premier League football since joining Tottenham Hotspur during the summer.
The young Spanish winger has featured prominently in the Europa Conference League, including a full game in the 2-2 draw away to Rennes last night.
But Tottenham fans are waiting to see what he can do in England’s top flight, with calls extra loud after being hammered 3-0 by Crystal Palace last time around.
Having said that, Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo might be about to grant those wishes.
Baptism of fire
During the draw in France last night, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura both came off injured.
It’s far too early to know the full extent of the injuries, confirmed by Nuno after the game.
All we can deduce right now is that it would hardly be a surprise if both wide men were considered injury doubts for the huge Premier League visit of Chelsea to North London this weekend.
And with Gil being a winger by trade, and Son Heung-min’s fitness unknown at the moment, it’s very possible that Nuno might be forced to give the 20-year-old trickster a full Premier League debut.
With the Blues winning 10 points from a possible 12 this season, and lifting the Champions League only a few months ago, it would possibly be a baptism of fire for Gil.
That being said, pressure makes diamonds and it could also be the perfect stage to show Tottenham fans what a signing their club has made.
Gil has already shown glimpses of what he can do, albeit against a number of European minnows. But if he starts against Thomas Tuchel’s side, it could be the start of something very exciting.
Spurs supporters have spent over a month calling on Nuno to use him more in the Premier League and the Portuguese coach may just be about to answer them.
