Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City may have been dented last night, after Wilfried Ndidi picked up an injury.
The Telegraph claimed that Newcastle were in a good position to land Choudhury, but that was before Ndidi limped off against Everton.
The extent of Ndidi’s injury is not yet known, but if he is sidelined for any lengthy period of time then Steve Bruce’s side’s chances of landing Choudhury could well be impacted.
Leicester surely won’t be as keen to loan out Choudhury, if their own first choice defensive midfielder is out injured.
Although the Foxes to have Nampalys Mendy, who is most likely to step into their side, Choudhury looks like their next option in the position.
If Ndidi is ruled out then he will obviously be promoted up the pecking order, and his importance to Brendan Rodgers’ side will only increase.

Newcastle now could well face an anxious wait to find out whether Ndidi will be ruled out long term, as all of a sudden a transfer they looked on course to make is in doubt.
Newcastle could really do with the injection of energy into their squad that Choudhury would bring, as they have struggled badly for results in recent weeks.
