Newcastle are supposedly an option for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek and the Toon have the ideal chance to land the Dutchman in a player-plus-cash move – thanks to Martin Dubravka and his current loan at United.

Van de Beek, 25, remains an outcast at Manchester United. Joining the club in the summer of 2020, he has managed only 53 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side. The arrival of the Dutch gaffer saw many hope van de Beek would play.

Getting a total of 19 minutes across three substitute appearances in United’s first three Premier League games, he now has an injury. But his Old Trafford future does look pretty much done, and a move is needed for the midfielder.

Indeed, he went out on loan to Everton last season. But he managed only seven games during the second half of the campaign. Dean Jones says that Newcastle are an option for van de Beek. They can get him in a player-plus-cash deal.

Newcastle have chance to land van de Beek in a player-plus-cash move

The Chronicle claim that Manchester United have a £6million permanent clause in the loan deal for Dubravka. The Slovakian goalkeeper is yet to make his first-team debut for United – only on the bench a handful of times.

It is unclear how much United would want for van de Beek. The midfielder cost a pretty penny just over two years ago. Joining the club from Ajax for a fee of £39million. He is not going to command that figure in January, or next summer.

Perhaps, a fee closer to half of that amount – in the region of £20million – would be fairer. If Newcastle are serious about van de Beek, and United do want Dubravka to remain as their second-choice goalkeeper, a deal could happen.

Wiping out the cash needed to sign Dubravka permanently, and reducing the price tag for van de Beek by £6million, makes sense. The two parties can come to a quick agreement on that matter. The initial price tag, is the sticking point.
