Steven Bergwijn has had a pretty difficult week as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The Netherlands international missed a gilt-edged chance to fire Spurs ahead against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, with the Premier League champions making him pay by scoring a last-minute winner.

After that, Bergwijn, who joined Tottenham last January for £25 million, limited comments on his Instagram comment after a torrent of negative messages from fans of the North London club.

Yep, a very difficult week, but it’ll get worse if Jose Mourinho drops him tomorrow.

Mourinho, whose side host Leicester City, confirmed in his press conference that Gareth Bale is fit and ready to come back for the Lilywhites.

And with Bergwijn’s confidence as low and as frail as it’s been since arriving at Tottenham, the Portuguese could deal him some serious damage if he drops him for Bale.

What the former PSV Eindhoven star needs is games to play through this difficult period – and it is a difficult period, but Mourinho could make things much worse if he axes him from the first XI.
