It looks like Liverpool just might be missing out on Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.

Last month it was reported by Tutto Napoli that the newly-crowned Premier League champions were prepared to pay £63 million to sign the towering Senegalese defender.

And it seems like he might well be on the way to England – but it isn’t to join Liverpool.

According to Foot Mercato, Manchester City are set to meet with Napoli to talk about the 29-year-old signing for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The report adds that City are expected to also make an offer for his services next week.

And if Koulibaly joins them, it’s a double blow for Liverpool.

Not only would the Reds be missing out on a brilliant centre-back, who’d go a long way toward helping them retain their Premier League title next season, but he’d be going to the one team who’ll be doing everything they can to steal back their crown.

City scored 17 more goals than Liverpool last season, which illustrates that their main problem is the defence and this could be a big piece of the jigsaw for Guardiola in regarding to getting their title back come next May.
