According to Calciomercato, Everton target Sergio Reguilon has agreed to join Napoli as the Italian club view him as an alternative to Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas.

The Reds made their first summer signing with Tsimikas arriving from Olympiakos.

Liverpool were quick to get the deal done. And, the latest reports from Calciomercato shares good reason as Serie A side Napoli were also keen on his signature.

Now, after missing out on Tsimikas, Napoli have turned their attentions to Reguilon.

The Italian club are seemingly in battle with another Merseyside club for the Spaniard’s signature. According to Sky Sports last week, Everton have tabled an £18 million offer.

But this time, Napoli appear likely to beat Premier League competition to get their man.

Calciomercato claim Reguilon has agreed to join the Naples side in principle. Now, there is just the agreement to find with Real Madrid seeking around £22 million.

Reguilon spent last season on loan at Sevilla, notching two goals and four assists.

It represents another potential blow for Everton in their efforts to strengthen the squad.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti didn’t join Everton to settle in midtable. The ambition to become a top four club is there, but the Italian needs to the tools to succeed.

The Toffees are short on top quality throughout the team. Without making key additions this summer, Ancelotti’s side will be in for another frustrating campaign.
