Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with Kai Havertz.

Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is a man in demand, but Liverpool may now face a tough decision on whether to enter the battle for him.

The 20-year-old wonderkid joined Leverkusen from Alemannia Aachen in 2010, joining the Bundesliga giants at the age of just 11.

Whoever spotted Havertz has really unearthed a gem, as he starred with 20 goals and seven assists last season, and looks set to leave the German club in 2020.

Recently, there has been major talk of Havertz heading to England. Firstly, The Express claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United both want to sign Havertz, with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer pushing for a deal.

Now, The Mirror state that Manchester United are ready to pay £85million for Havertz, either in January or next summer, and that leaves Liverpool with a big decision to make.

Havertz is no doubt a familiar talent to fellow German Jurgen Klopp, and he would give Liverpool even more firepower, with his versatility potentially perfect for Liverpool.

He can play in from the right flank like Mohamed Salah, or he can play as a central playmaker, which has been something of a problem area for Liverpool since the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

Quick, skilful and a threat to score from anywhere, Havertz is already one of the finest wingers in Europe, so imagine where he could be in the next five years or so with the right coaching, and Klopp could work wonders with him having developed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

However, £85million is a huge price tag. Liverpool have only spent over £50million twice, on Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, and deciding whether to go to that kind of fee to beat United to Havertz isn’t an easy decision.

Liverpool spend for the right player, but aren’t always throwing money around quite like United are. Havertz could be perfect for Liverpool, but the price tag is usually the kind of cash that sees Liverpool back away, only this time, they won’t want to see such a talented player head to United instead.
