Leeds United’s search for pace in the final third has seen them linked with a host of wingers – and they could be closing in on one.

The Whites are seeking another wide man, and Manchester United’s Daniel James has again been linked with the club having missed out on a move to Elland Road in January 2019.

The Sun claim that Rangers winger Ryan Kent is the main backup target if Leeds can’t land James, having already failed with one bid earlier this summer.

Rangers fans may be worried about losing Kent, as he has been in sensational form early this season with five goals and five assists in 10 games across all competitions.

However, Rangers’ fears may be somewhat alleviated by Leeds opening talks to sign another wide man – and landing him would surely kill off any interest in Kent.

The Daily Mail note that Leeds are in talks to sign Utrecht attacker Gyrano Kerk, with a deal worth around £8million now in the pipeline.

The 24-year-old has blistering pace, and racked up 11 goals and 12 assists last season, showing that he is ready for a move away from Utrecht and onto bigger things.

Kerk is particularly appealing because of his ability to play on the right flank or as a striker, and he would be coming much cheaper than a deal for Kent.

Given that Leeds have other needs too – another playmaker and possibly a left back – going for a cheaper deal with Kerk does make more sense than splashing the cash on Kent.

Talks are ongoing, so Rangers can’t relax just yet, but a potential deal for Kerk being worked on suggests that Leeds are moving on from Kent after all.
