Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho was on the receiving end a few months ago when he hinted that Troy Parrott wasn’t quite ready for first-team football.
The Spurs manager told the BBC after his side’s defeat against Norwich City that the young striker ‘has to work a lot’ before he can be be a regular for his side.
Parrott is among the most exciting prospects in the Premier League. A lot of Spurs fans wanted to see him in action when Harry Kane was out injured but, sadly, that wasn’t the case.
Mourinho decided against using the young forward, prompting speculation over his lack of trust in Parrott. More of the same is expected in the near future if the latest transfer report is true.
Calcio Napoli 24 have claimed today that Tottenham are interested in signing Ajax’s Danilo Pereira da Silva this summer.
The 21-year-old Brazilian is highly-rated in Ajax’s youth setup and it is claimed that Spurs are joined by Benfica and Napoli in the race to sign him in the coming months.
Danilo is an exciting little player. The youngster has 40 goals in 61 games for Ajax’s youth sides and he even has one strike to his name in 72 minutes of senior action.

Parrott has a better record than Danilo
Danilo certainly has a bright future ahead of him but do Tottenham really need him when they already have Parrott?
The Spurs youngster has 31 goals in 37 youth appearances for the club. That’s a better strike rate than Danilo’s, which is really impressive considering that he is three years younger than the Brazilian.
Mourinho has the unfortunate reputation of not giving young players a chance. Signing someone like Danilo when he already has Parrott will show his lack of faith in the youngster, and Spurs fans will certainly not appreciate it.
