Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of Andy Robertson.

The Scottish left-back was omitted from his country’s latest squad due to a hamstring problem.

If it’s a serious one, his chances of starting for Liverpool in next week’s visit of Leicester City look pretty remote.

But it might just open the door for Kostas Tsimikas to make his Premier League debut for the Reds in a Premier League game.

The English champions spent £11.7 million on signing the Greek defender from Olympiacos during the summer.

But fast forward three months and Tsimikas hasn’t yet kicked a ball in the Premier League, due to Robertson being first choice and injury.

That being said, he is fit now after being named on the bench against Atalanta in the Champions League a little earlier this month and if Robertson is definitely out, he’s the logical choice to come in.

James Milner has done a job at left-back for Liverpool in the past, but Leicester are top of the Premier League and even though it’s at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side are still going to have to play very well to beat the Foxes.

And if Klopp overlooks Tsimikas – who has featured in the League Cup, and for 12 minutes in Europe – for Milner then it makes you wonder why he was even signed in the first place, considering a Robertson injury is the exact reason as to why he was brought in.
