According to La Gazzette dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain will not offer Edinson Cavani a contract extension, which is good news for Newcastle United.

Cavani is out of contract at PSG this summer and is set to become a free agent.

Italian publication La Gazzette dello Sport has claimed that PSG will not offer the 33-year-old Uruguay international a contract extension.

This will be good news for Newcastle, who have been linked with a move for the former Napoli striker.

Foot Mercato recently claimed that the Magpies are interested in signing the striker on a free transfer this summer.

PSG are a massive club, regularly win the Ligue 1 title and compete in the Champions League.

True, Cavani has not played much football for the French club this season, but he would have probably signed a new deal with the Ligue 1 outfit.

However, with PSG reportedly not ready to offer Cavani a new deal, it allows Newcastle to make a move, and the Magpies could be tempting for the Uruguayan once the proposed takeover goes through.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are planning to buy Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley, according to The Times.
