It could be quite a worrying month for Tottenham Hotspur fans.
That’s because their former manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has been appointed head coach at one of Europe’s wealthiest clubs, Paris Saint-Germain.
And it just seems inevitable that the Argentine will come knocking at Tottenham for one or two of his former players.
One player he’s reportedly interested in is Hugo Lloris but, if rumours are believed, the North Londoners have made a brilliant decision on this front.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham have moved to try and keep Lloris in North London by offering him a new contract.
The 34-year-old is out of contract with the Lilywhites in 18 months, but his form, combined with PSG’s reported interest, means it’s important than the Premier League side tie him down.
Let’s be frank, Lloris was one of the several Tottenham players under-performing in a big way in the final year under Pochettino, despite helping the club to a Champions League final in that time.
But in the 14 months since Jose Mourinho has taken the reins, the France international has been nothing short of exceptional and this show of faith – the offer of a new deal – might just be enough to see him reject Pochettino’s advances and commit his future to Daniel Levy and the Portuguese coach.
