There’s been a distinct lack of speculation regarding Tanguy Ndombele’s future at Tottenham Hotspur lately.
Only a few months ago the Frenchman was being heavily linked with a move away from North London following a disappointing first season in England.
Foot Mercato claimed a month ago that Bayern Munich and Barcelona have both touched base with Tottenham about signing the 23-year-old.
And although there’s been very little since, Ndombele could be in serious trouble at Spurs if one rumour is true.
Jose Mourinho has already signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and now there’s speculation that the Lilywhites have reached out to Ajax about signing Donny van de Beek [Sport].
Both are central midfielders and if Mourinho signs two players of that ilk then it’s really, really ominous for Ndombele.
The former Lyon star doesn’t appear to be rated all that highly by Mourinho anyway, but if the Portuguese goes and signs not one, but two players in his same position then it could be argued that he’s already a goner.
In terms of talent, Ndombele, who cost £63 million, still has a lot to offer any club, but the rumour regarding Van de Beek is just another sign that it’s just not going to work for the big man in North London.
