Watford are reportedly keen on signing Arsenal hitman Eddie Nketiah.
The 22-year-old striker started only four Premier League games for Arsenal this past season.
And with Folarin Balogun signing a new deal, it’s very probable that Nketiah’s first-team prospects will only suffer further damage next season.
According to The Mirror, the newly-promoted Hornets are interested.
And if it goes through for the reported figure, it’s a bargain by Edu and Mikel Arteta.
That’s because The Mirror has reported that Arsenal will sell for around £15 million.
Nketiah is a good young player but he only has one year left on his contract in North London – and picking up £15 million would be a cracking piece of business.
Remember, this is effectively a squad player and receiving an eight-figure sum for a squad player – let alone one who will leave for free in 12 months – has to be considered a masterstroke if it comes off.
The England Under-21 international certainly knows the way to goal but despite impressing in training, he has never really looked like being lethal enough to be Arsenal’s long-term number nine.
Staying in the Premier League is a good fit for Nketiah but staying Arsenal makes zero sense.
