Michael Edwards may be plotting another masterstroke at Liverpool.

Lord knows that Edwards has negotiated some blinding deals for the Reds down the years, and many have been departures.

Liverpool have received a total of around £55 million for Dominic Solanke, Jordon Ibe and Rhian Brewster.

That just about sums up what a magician Edwards can be at the negotiating table – and he may be set to repeat the trick with another double deal.

Stellar business

According to The Athletic, Neco Williams is set to push for a move away from Anfield this summer, in light of the fact he’s been playing at Euro 2020 for Wales.

And the same report adds that Nat Phillips is also interested in quitting the Reds out of fear that he’ll plummet down the pecking order now next season.

The Athletic also claims that Williams could fetch £10 million and that Liverpool could get £15 million for Phillips and if that transpires, it’s remarkable business.

it may not be quite as impressive as the earlier example involving Solanke and Brewster.

But Williams and Phillips have less than 30 Premier League appearances between them and receiving £25 million for a duo with 29 top-flight matches under their belt is stellar.

They’re both good players – especially Phillips – but neither has a long-term future at Anfield.

If not for an injury crisis last season, they would be considered squad players at best and Phillips will return to a fringe role next term if he stays.
