Speculation is rife that Rangers want to sign a certain Xavi Simons.
According to AS in Spain, Rangers are keen on the out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain gem.
The 18-year-old is out of contract next summer.
And if Ross Wilson pulls this off, it has to be considered a massive coup for the Ibrox club.
Bargain
That’s because according to Team Talk, 90 Min are also interested in the Dutch teenager.
And when Rangers are battling teams like this, it’s a very good sign by virtue of the fact that City are, well, one of Europe’s best teams.
But it would also be a blinder by Wilson because we’re talking about Simons as a potential free transfer next summer.
And if the Rangers man pulls off a Bosman of this calibre then suffice to say Giovanni van Bronckhorst – who’s also Dutch – will be absolutely over the moon.
Could Rangers beat City?
To the signing of Simons? Absolutely.
The reason why the young sensation is probably leaving the French capital is competition for places.
He just isn’t going to play regularly under Mauricio Pochettino due to the quality PSG have.
And it’d be the exact same situation at Manchester City, which gives Rangers a big advantage.
It’s also worth pointing out that Simons may fancy playing under his compatriot in Glasgow, too.
This time of the year, there’s a lot of nonsense spouted as the transfer season prepares to return in January.
But if Rangers did want Simons, it genuinely has legs.
