There’s been reports lately that William Saliba is becoming a little ‘fed up’ at Arsenal.
The 19-year-old defender returned to North London during the summer after spending last season back on loan with Saint Etienne, who sold him for £27 million in 2019.
But Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is yet to use the French centre-back in a competitive game – and didn’t even include him in his Europa League squad.
And according to But! in France, Saliba is growing annoyed at his lack of chances.
But if Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano is right, Arsenal could be making a smart decision on that front soon.
Romano claimed on his Here We Go podcast this week that the Gunners were strongly considering sending Saliba out on loan in January and that should, in theory, make him a little happier.
We’re talking about a player who Saint Etienne desperately tried to get back for a French Cup final with Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, which illustrates that he is way more advanced than the Under-23 games he has had to settle for at Arsenal so far.
Six months of senior football on loan somewhere for the second half of this season is so much better for his development than another half-a-year of playing with Steve Bould’s reserves.
This is definitely the smart move by the North Londoners if they push ahead with it.
