According to Le10sport, two unnamed English clubs have launched offers for former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye with the Toffees possibly one of them.

The Senegal international left Everton to join French champions Paris Saint-German last summer for around a £30 million fee (BBC).

But despite largely being a regular in Paris, Gueye could be set for a swift exit.

Le10sport claim PSG are looking to finalize the transfer of Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. And with several midfielders on their books, one or two must give way.

The French editorial go on to say PSG have received two proposals from English clubs for the former Aston Villa and Everton midfielder.

Why Everton are possibly one of them:

Everton know all about Gueye’s ability. He was a big hit at Goodison Park, and supporters were disappointed to see him leave the club last summer.

Carlo Ancelotti has ambitions of helping Everton become a top four Premier League club.

One area his side must strength this summer is in midfield. With 46 goals conceded in 29 league games prior to the Covid-19, there is a real lack of defensive protection.

Everton’s last game was a 4-0 defeat at Chelsea. Midfielders Tom Davies and Andre Gomes were both overrun, with the duo lacking defensive leadership qualities.

Gueye is an excellent holding midfielder. Full of energy, positionally aware and comfortable in possession. His game suits Ancelotti’s style of play.

But who else could be interested? Liverpool and Manchester City are highly unlikely. Leicester City have Wilfred Ndidi, Chelsea have N’Golo Kante and Manchester United have Scott McTominay already occupying that role.

Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers probably couldn’t afford his wages.

Arenal and Tottenham Hotspur are potentially other clubs, yet the latter signed Tanguy Ndombele last summer and will surely place their faith in him.

If reports are true, Everton appear the obvious club vying to sign Gueye.
