Bukayo Saka’s performance for Arsenal against Southampton on Thursday evening impressed Gary Lineker.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and England international striker raved about the 18-year-old on Twitter.

Arsenal need to act now

Saka, who can operate as a left-back or as a full-back, has been superb for Arsenal so far this season, and, like Lineker, many other observers will have been impressed with the teenager.

The England Under-19 international has been linked with moves away from the Gunners in the summer transfer window, with his current contract at the North London outfit running out in the summer of 2021.

The Mirror reported of Borussia Dortmund’s interest in the left-back in April, while Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the teenager, according to a report in The Daily Mail in February.

Of course, talks over new contracts do take time, but Arsenal could face a situation later this summer when they will either have to sell Saka or run the risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season.

True, the Premier League is back in full swing, but the Gunners need to accelerate talks with Saka over a new contract, or else they may not have, as Lineker put it, a “cracking young English footballer” on their books for long.
