According to ESPN, Barcelona are struggling to offload Samuel Umtiti, and this could be good news for Arsenal.

It has been reported by ESPN that Umtiti is among a number of players Barcelona are hoping to sell in the summer transfer window in order to generate cash.

However, according to the report, it is “proving difficult” for the Spanish giants to find a buyer for the 26-year-old.

Although the central defender is a very good player, the France international has had injury problems throughout his time at Barca.

Mundo Deportivo recently reported that Arsenal are among the clubs who are interested in signing the Frenchman and have already asked about him.

With Barcelona reportedly struggling to get buyers for the defender, they could eventually be open to a loan move, and that would work in the Gunners’ favour.

Given Umtiti’s injury problems, it would be a risk for Arsenal to sign him on a permanent basis, but a loan move with an option to buy could work for all parties concerned.

Barcelona would be able to get the defender’s wage bill off their books, while the player himself would be very motivated to impress at the Emirates Stadium.

As for Arsenal, the North London outfit would be able to judge the defender for an entire year before coming to a concrete conclusion about him.
