More than a few eyebrows were raised among Liverpool fans when Michael Edwards offloaded Rhian Brewster this past summer.

The 20-year-old striker was arguably the most exciting young player coming through the club’s Kirkby academy.

Brewster also scored 11 goals for Swansea City during a half-season loan with the Championship side last season, underlining his potential.

So when Liverpool sold him to Sheffield United for £23.5m million, some fans of the Premier League club weren’t impressed.

But fast forward a few months, it’s looking like another cracking piece of business by Edwards.

That’s because Brewster, despite his talent, is yet to score in any of his six Premier League appearances for the Blades.

Against West Brom last week, the young hitman was left on the bench and only managed 17 touches after being introduced on 54 minutes.

It’s worth pointing out that United are struggling in a big way collectively, so this isn’t a fair reflection of Brewster’s ability.

But the only fact that matters is that Liverpool picked up £24 million for a goalscorer who isn’t finding the net in the top flight right now.

And until he does, this is looking like another example as to why Edwards should always be trusted, no matter what.
