Arsenal were linked with a move to sign Glen Kamara on a few occasions this past summer.
In May, The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal were interested in bringing their former midfielder back to the Emirates Stadium.
And two months ago, Give Me Sport added that the Gunners were still keen on getting a deal done before the transfer window shut, which they didn’t.
The 25-year-old, who began his career at London Colney, wound up staying at Rangers and you would think that his latest contract – signed this week – kills any club’s chances of signing him now.
But that may not be necessarily true.
Arsenal can still get him
If Arsenal really are interested, then a January move cannot be ruled out.
Despite extending his Rangers contract until 2025, The Athletic has reported that Kamara has an agreement with the Ibrox club that he can leave when a ‘suitable offer’ comes in.
And if Edu lodges the right bid in the January transfer window then logically you would assume that Steven Gerrard will let him leave Glasgow.
There wouldn’t have been a ‘compromise’ between the club and Kamara if the player didn’t have designs on leaving the Premiership champions this past summer anyway.
By January, the Finland midfielder, who joined Gerrard’s side for a bargain £50,000 in 2019, might still be keen to leave and if Arsenal want him, it’s in their hands based on what The Athletic have claimed.
