Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Ruben Neves this summer.
According to The Daily Mail, Neves has confided in some of his Wolves teammates that he’s very much interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal fans are accustomed to long-running transfer sagas, many of which never even materialise – like, say, Houssem Aouar.
But if the Gunners’ interest in Neves is credible then it’s possible that Edu could have it wrapped up by next Tuesday.
That is when Portugal kick off their Euro 2020 campaign and Edu will know that if Neves lights up the competition with a series of glittering displays then it not only opens the door for other clubs, but his price goes up.
As things stand, Wolves are looking for £35 million for Neves and Arsenal are already reportedly reluctant to spend that [Goal].
But if this is a player they want, and it seems like they genuinely do, the North Londoners need to pull the trigger as soon as possible.
The last thing Arsenal want to be doing this summer is spending month after month trying to sign a player who will ultimately stay put – again, like Aouar.
It’s a distraction and the sooner that Edu strengthens the midfield, the sooner he can focus on other areas.
If Neves isn’t an Arsenal player by the time he takes the field against Hungary on Tuesday, it may be too late.
