Leeds United are likely to be busy in the transfer window this summer and a new left-back could be on the cards. So, should look to Arsenal, with reports emerging over Arsenal man Nuno Tavares?
Junior Firpo was bought from Barcelona last summer as a replacement for Gjanni Alioski. But Firpo has struggled. Numerous injuries have hampered his momentum, making a number of mistakes throughout.
The 25-year-old only managed 27 appearances for Leeds during the 2021-22 campaign – failing to win over Leeds fans. That is, despite an improvement in form towards the end of the season under Jesse Marsch.

With Stuart Dallas expected to be sidelined until 2023 after a leg break, Leeds not only need cover for Firpo – but perhaps competition. That is where Arsenal could hand Leeds a solution on the left of the defence.
Leeds should look at Arsenal man Tavares: Defender needs minutes
Tavares joined Arsenal last summer for a fee of £8million (Sun), with the overriding belief that he would provide back-up to Kieran Tierney. The Scottish ace is renowned for his injuries, since joining from Celtic.
The 22-year-old ended up playing 28 times – in and out of the Arsenal side. While criticised, like Firpo, he never got a regular run of starts. His longest consecutive run was six, in the Premier League.
Reports this month claim that Arsenal have held conversations about loaning Tavares out. At 22, they will see a future for him at The Emirates – and they will want him to join a club where he could return a better player.
More suited, to the Premier League. Staying in England’s top tier is ideal and Leeds need a left-back. Tavares – branded “brilliant” by Micah Richards – has the quality to overtake Firpo, judging by Firpo’s Leeds form.
