It’s always interesting to examine a club’s first transfer window under a new manager, and that certainly goes for Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
Daniel Levy was quick to hand Nuno Espirito Santo his P45, so Spurs find themselves in a unique position where they had one man overseeing the summer window, and another overseeing the winter market.
If a report from 90min is true, then it seems Conte already has one position in mind which he’d like to bolster, despite the fact Nuno already added a new face there in August.
What’s the story?
Well, 90min believe Spurs have sent an enquiry to Atlético Madrid over the availability of ex-Tottenham man Kieran Trippier.
Interestingly, eight other Premier League clubs have also enquired.
Now, in our view, this suggests Conte isn’t exactly pleased with how Emerson Royal has been performing at right wing-back.

Nuno spent £25.8m on the Brazilian back in August, and he has made five appearances in total since the Italian replaced the Portuguese coach.
Emerson Royal has by no means been a disaster, but asking about Trippier doesn’t suggest that Conte has much faith in him.
What about Matt Doherty?
You might be arguing that Conte is instead looking to replace Matt Doherty, so he has two standout options at right wing-back instead of one.
However, Trippier is one of the best players at Atlético Madrid, and won La Liga last season as well – he won’t return to England to warm the bench.
Presumably, Spurs feel the same way.

As a result, it wouldn’t surprise us if Emerson Royal was forced to settle for a place on the bench, with Trippier replacing him in the starting XI.
Only time will tell what happens, but if we were Emerson Royal, we’d be a bit worried about seeing the report from 90min.
