Celtic face Rangers this weekend in a huge clash, with the two Old Firm rivals in a battle for the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys are just one point behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table, and have a game in hand on the Gers too, meaning a win this weekend would be huge.

Celtic have been dealt blows though, as a number of players have fallen victim to the global pandemic and could miss out on this weekend’s game.

Ryan Christie is out of action as he continues to self-isolate, meaning Neil Lennon has to figure out a replacement; it could be Olivier Ntcham, it could be David Turnbull or even Tom Rogic.

Using Rogic has to be an appealing idea. The Australian looked set to leave Celtic over the summer, but ended up staying put after a move to Qatar fell through.

Rogic is back from injury after playing 14 minutes as a substitute against St Johnstone, and Christie’s absence presents a spot for him to feature.

Rogic has been Rangers’ nemesis in years gone by. His record in Old Firm games is frankly incredible; he’s bagged five goals in 12 outings against the Gers, and won 10 games against them in that time.

Some players just have that kind of record against certain clubs; Didier Drogba’s 13 goals and four assists in 15 games against Arsenal, losing just one springs to mind.

That kind of record comes with a certain psychological advantage, and having a player who consistently turns up in the biggest games of the season is a huge weapon to have.

Rogic is exactly that player, and having managed to get himself fit in time for the first Rangers clash of the season, few would bet against him having a huge impact on the game – especially with Christie unavailable.
