Newcastle United reportedly want Jarrod Bowen in January.

Newcastle United may already be planning for the January transfer window, and one popular name is being linked with the club once again.

The Express claim that Newcastle are still eyeing up Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen, with Steve Bruce seemingly planning a big January deal.

Bowen, 22, starred last season with 22 goals for Hull, whilst he’s already picked up three goals and one assist this term, again underlining his quality for the Tigers.

The right winger, who loves to cut inside on his left foot and shoot from range, was signed by Bruce at Hull, and a reunion could be appealing to Bowen having already shown that he’s too good for Championship.

Bowen’s deal expires at the end of the season, but Hull have the option of an extra year, meaning Newcastle will still have to cough up decent money – and a deal would be hugely exciting.

Bowen has become one of the Championship’s most potent attacking players, hitting 39 goals and six assists since the start of the 2017-18 season, and signing him may just tempt Bruce into a tactical change.

Bowen is at his best on the right, and switching to a 4-2-3-1 system would give Newcastle a dangerous setup behind centre forward Joelinton.

Bowen on the right, Allan Saint-Maximin on the left and playmaker Miguel Almiron as a number 10 would Newcastle bags of pace and ability behind Joelinton, surrounding the big centre forward with dangerous attackers.

With Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff behind them as hard workers with complementing skills of breaking up play and getting on the ball, Newcastle would have a much more exciting side than the current five-man back line – and Magpies fans may hope that Bruce can tempt Bowen up to St James’ Park when the transfer window re-opens.
