Mesut Ozil has confirmed on Twitter that he’s ready to return for Arsenal.

The 31-year-old playmaker was spotted at London Colney after returning to first-team training on Tuesday.

Ozil hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since football resumed in June.

First, he was being omitted from Mikel Arteta’s squad, despite the Spaniard now permitted to use five substitutions, and then was struck down by a mysterious back injury.

Arsenal welcome Premier League champions Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium tonight and here’s what Ozil posted on Twitter ahead of that one.

Angry Arteta?

Only yesterday, Arteta claimed that the situation was still the same with Ozil, meaning that he wasn’t going to be named in his squad anytime soon.

That indicates that the former Germany international isn’t going to face Jurgen Klopp’s side tonight, even if he claims that he’s ready.

This is a confusing situation and Ozil does himself no favours by contradicting Arteta’s comments here, if we’re honest.

If Arsenal lose to the Reds tonight, and fail to create much going forward, it’s Arteta who will look like the villain for not recalling the high-profile number 10 who declared himself ‘ready’.
